Q. What is a CAP?
A. A confirmed access point, basically an access point you have not only found but have used to browse the net and possibly sent an email.
Q. What is a UAP?
A. An unconfirmed access point, basically an access point you may have spotted but need someone else to confirm and actually use and verify.
Q. What is the format of a CAP?
A. Once you get a login to this blog you can post a new entry under the category "CAP" or "UAP" to post an entry:
Here's an example:
Entry Title (a short descriptive that will be used for the name): Royal Ontario Museum - Ming Tomb
Physical Landmark (a specific address, location or intersection):100 Queen's Park, Royal Ontario Museum, Ming Tomb
Major Intersection: Bloor and Queen's Park Cres
GPS Lat (if available): 43.668700
GPS Lon (if available): -79.394000
Network Name (SSID of AP): i-2-sky
WEP (is security on?): No
Contributor (name and email, optional): wb1@wirelessbandit.com
Comments (any comments you may want to add, the more the better): If one sits by the window in the Ming Tomb (which is on the main floor with the huge windows facing Bloor Street) you can pick up the signal. The tomb has huge concrete and marble arches, benches as well as a ledge to sit by the window. The Access Point is a Cisco SSID "i-2-sky" anyhow, the ROM is free after 4:30 so one can enjoy the culture whilst doing some work if they wish. I tried to access again from the McDonalds on the north side of Bloor across the street but the signal was too weak, perhaps due to the buildings structure. Anyhow, just thought I'd contribute.
